Day 17 (extra) - All about Sibiu
Friday 13th July 2018
Sibiu is a 15th century architectural gem of a town in the heart of Transylvania. While under Habsburg rule the Austro-Hungarian governor, Samuel Von Bruckental, was responsible for building a number of fine houses including the house that has been converted into the boutique hotel where we stay the night.
Several of these fine houses are now museums and galleries housing his collection of fine art and memorabilia.
We take a stroll in the evening sunshine, up the steps outside the hotel to the two squares (the Big and Little Square) that form the centre.
There is some kind of event going on in the Big Square. We never figure out what it is, but maybe a Wedding Fayre or a Transylvanian take on Love Island!
Here’s the photos:
The Pensiunea Chic is the white building, centre, with its cafe/restaurant out front |

It’s a pedestrianised area but there’s always room for a bike |
